Secure Zone help needed ...

Thread needs solution

Hi, everyone, I need help with True Image Home 9. Simple question, how do I delete a backup from the secure zone?

Thanks.

Dave:

In True Image 9 the Secure Zone is self-managing on a first-in first-out basis. When a new backup is created then older backups will be deleted to make room for it. Acronis left no provisions for user management of the contents of the Zone.

Having said that, the Secure Zone is a FAT32 partition that is hidden from Windows by a simple change to the "type" field in the partition table. If you have any partition management software then just change the "type" field of the zone to FAT32 and reboot. Windows will then see the zone as a standard partition and you can use Windows Explorer to do anything that you want with the contents. Other alternatives are to boot your machine from a Live Linux CD which will also see the zone as a standard FAT32 partition and allow access to it.

Unless you need or like the self-management features of the Secure Zone, a better alternative for your backups is to save them to an external USB disk, preferably one that is formatted as NTFS. Two major issues with the Acronis Secure Zone are that it is FAT32, which is not a very robust file system, and that if you store backups on your main hard disk and it dies, your backups die with it.
