Security of backed-up files?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm evaluating Online Backup and wonder about the security of the backup data (admittedly I may be paranoid ;-)

My expectations with regard of the product would be as follows (and I'm by no means an expert):

a) All encryption/decryption takes place on the client machine, all transmitted data is encrypted and the key never leaves the client machine. Encryption is at least AES 128.

b) Even if someone has physical access to the server (or manages to break into my account), he will not be able to view even the file list or details without the encryption key.

c) The account login procedure is protected against attacks (otherwise someone could use my email address to first hack into the support account and then log into the backup server).

I'm fairly confident about a), but not about b) and c). Could you please comment?

Thanks and kind regards
Wolfgang

Actually, I found a simple solution for above concerns:

- Create compressed and encrypted backup locally
- Save to online backup server without encryption

Simple and safe.
