Serial number issue

Thread needs solution

Hello-

I pretty much figure I am screwed at this point but figure I would ask.
I bought Acronis True Image Home 2010 PC Back up and Recovery and KNEW that I was supposed to register it online. I even WANTED to do it so I could get a shortened reg key instead of having to use the 64 character one.
Instead I installed it, wrote the serial number on the disk with a Sharpie and got rid of the box and paper sleeve it was in, and put the disk in a disk folder.
After a system crash I decided to reload everything instead of using an image that I think is too polluted and went with a cleaner install.
When I got to installing teh Acronis disk, it will not take my serial.
After a couple hours trying to figure out why, I noticed that on one of the support pages it said it was a 64 character key. I have 63 of those.
At the 7th block of 8 cvharacters I only have 7. One appeared to be a cross between a V and an N, or could be a 1, I dont know at this point. Anyways I accepted that it was my fault and started substituing each letter of the alphabet and number in where I think it should go and it will will not work.
So after probably 100 tries of trying the entire alphabet and number 0-9 before and after the V/N looking thing that I wrote in marker I am pretty much gining in.
If there is a way to get that one character, I can give all other 63 characters and hell, if needed a scanned picture of the disk with what I have written down as that is as much proof as I have at this point.
I hope that there is a way but am not very hopeful.

Thanks for reading.

You'd have to contact Acronis, probably Cust Svc to get action on this. If an Acronis agent is watching the forums, she/he might respond with other guidance. Also, if you bought it on-line, you might be able to print obtain a copy of the purcahse receipt again, and that might help when you contact Acronis.

Thanks for the reply.
I tried looking for a way to contact Acronis help/ customer service but all I could find was "you have to have a product registered and you need the serial number for that" and its a loop where I cant get teh correct serial number without customer service and cant get customer service without the serial number.

Anton-

I did as you said but they are unable to help me since it was purchased retail.
I will play around with it a little more and see if I can figure out the illusive character.
The place where I wrote it down looks like two characters are together but the marker kinda bled together so it could be an Y with a V or a Y with an N or several other combination of things... Oh well, cant blame anyone but me for this one.

Thanks for the assitance.

Good luck.
