Hello Dmitry,
>First of all validate backup archive by means of Acronis True Image. Is it corrupted?
yes the the backup archive is corrupted.
>Then copy the image to another location, eg. internal drive and try to explore the image again.
I tried this and it did not make a difference.
>Finally use Acronis bootable disc to restore files/folders you need.
I did this as you requested and received the following message.
Error
Acronis True Image Home backup archive file is corrupted. If the backup is an image, you may try to restore data from it by mounting the image and restoring intact data.
I tried mounting the image and received this message.
Selected file is not Acronis True Image Home archive or is corrupted. Please select another backup archive.

Hello gm3317,
Thank you for using Acronis Products
Make sure that you are using the same version and build number of Acronis True Image program the backup archives were created. If the issue still persists use the following step-by-step troubleshooting guide for corrupted backup archives.

After the creation of .tib file I've changed one of his attributes and made it "hidden", as appear later on if the .tib file is hidden it could not be restored or even mounted, which is strange behavior in my opinion. The same error appears once I've changed the name of the file, so probably, best solution is not to touch in any way the files created by True Image. After revert the attribute, or name all is gone OK with the restoration.

I wanted to re-install a fresh copy of Window XP Pro on my computer so I created a backup image of my C drive onto an external harddrive and validated the image. I have explored this image a few times and did not have any problems. A short time ago I wanted to get files from the backup image but I now get the following message when trying to access it.Archive Open ErrorAn error occurred when opening the backup archive:Cannot continue the operation due to either the backup is corrupted or it is used by another process, for example the backup has been mounted as a disk.My photos, emails, contacts, data files, etc. are in the backup image which now cannot be opened. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there some reason you feel compelled to repeatedly post this in multiple threads that are years old?

Yes, there is a reason and if you spend few minutes to think, probably will cach it.
Nevertheless these are old posts the problem still persists, and some of the members of the forum from different threads will receive mail with useful info.

I don't need to think about it further. Stop making multiple posts of the same message.
