size of file backup larger than partition

Thread needs solution

when i backup my c drive it has 115 GB used but when the backup is done it shows backup file is 233GB. the actual file size is 80GB in windows explorer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 2014 but still the same results.

80 GB would be in the normal size range for backing up and compressing 115 GB of stuff, so that seems fine to me. Where do you see the 233 GB figure?

it shows up in acronis backup and recovery tab under the backup results which shows location, type, schedule, version and file size. It shows 233GB for a file that is only 80GB.

Try this--it may work.

I am asking that you do a simulated recovery. Proceed thru the restore options but STOP BEFORE YOU BEGIN A REAL RESTORE.

To begin:
From insdie TrueImage Windows, clic the RECOVER OPTION from inside the task
and hopefully you will get some error message windows for which you respond "ignore" to each.

Hopefully, at the end of the simulation, your backup size will be the 80GB actual as in Explorer.

I get a message that "there is insufficient space in recovery destination" and the program stops.

Then try to validate the backup and see if you get errors to work through.
