Sleeping mode and scheduled backup
Hello
As a newcomer with a trial version of ATIH (and some experience with data backup) I have questions to better understand who ATIH works.
- Presently, I am thinking of the following backup scheme for a client that uses his laptop primarily for private usage (and sometimes only for business) and has only a small new ¦ modified daily data production:
-- Full backup at the 1st of each month
-- Differential backup each day of the month
-- Storage space for 6 (+ 1) months with this scheme
- This laptop is staying up and running at daytime in a stable location normally, but moves around in the world sometimes during the year.
-- Staying around inactively means sleeping mode.
-- Running at daytime only means sleeping mode at nighttime, again.
- This client needs a fully automated backup solution.
-- He is willing to interfere for restoring user data, only.
-- For restoring the system, he will ask for external help.
- Q-1: ATIH seems not to run in sleeping mode (there are other programs that do that elegantly). So, how do I have to set up the scheduled backup so that I still can profit from sleeping mode (the laptop should not be forced to be up and running all day long because of needs of the backup program)?
- Q-2: I set the differential backups up for each day of the month, i.e. also for days that do not exists in some of the months (e.g. 30th of February). How does ATIH handle this?
- Q-3: Sometimes this laptop is moving around in the world, i.e. backup is not possibe because of the missing external hard disk. How does ATIH handle this?
-- Will ATIH still try to add differential backups for missing days or collaps the lost days to one differential backup or eliminate lost days completely?
-- Does ATIH wait for the next full backup before continuing with the differential backups of the next month?
- Q-4: Roughly after 6 month the storage space will be filled up with backup data and data reorganisation will start. How can I make a copy of the newest full backup to a different partition all 6 months automatically to get an additional long time backup line?
Best regards - Studi1
