Slight problem when testing Acronis Bootable media

Thread needs solution

Good morning everyone,

This is my first post to this forum.

I downloaded the 30-day trial of ATIH 2012 yesterday. For some reason, I was unable to create a bootable DVD/RW disk, and had to use a USB 2.0 flash drive (8 GB) instead. (Kept getting some kind of message that no usable media was found in the D drive...despite the fact I used a brand new DVD/RW disk).

I am able to boot from this USB drive. Following the initial boot, the screen will show an Acronis page with two options; the first says something like Acronis True Image Home 2012, and the second line reads, Generate a Report (or something similar).

I moved the mouse pointer over and clicked on the first option. (BTW, the mouse pointer also does not move in a normal way either;  the slightest touch moves it VERY quickly). After clicking on the first option, the screen display changes to show the ATIH 2012 Main page. But, the mouse pointer is nowhere to be found and there is no way to go beyond this point. I had to turn the computer off and restart in Normal mode.

Does anyone have an idea as to what I did wrong, and how to resolve this issue?

Thank you for your time and any info!

The same thing happens with my primary mouse. Yes, it's awkward and annoying.

This may be because your mouse is not fully supported in the Linux boot environment. Some hardware that works fine in Windows is not fully supported in the Linux boot environment on which ATIH Recovery Media is based.

What type of mouse are you using?

Do you have another mouse you can try?

Hi tuttle,

Thanks very much for your reply!

I am using a Labtec (wired) mouse (PS/2 connector).  Also, I tried a spare Dell mouse (same type mouse/connector), and got the same result.

Without knowing a specific brand/model # of mouse that IS compatible, I'd be very hesitant about just going to the store and picking up another mouse. I live on a fixed income now, so there isn't much leeway here for me.

Regards,
