Slow backup over network

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Hoping someone might have some ideas where to start with this...

I have a laptop plugged into a modem/router with a LAN cable, and a usb drive plugged into the router so it shows up as a drive on the local network. The laptop has about 2.2GB on it and I'm trying to back up the whole system. The backup has so far taken 7 hours and says it has 11 more to go. So that's about 17 hours more than it takes when the usb drive is plugged straight into the computer!

Details:

  • windows 10
  • Acronis True Image 2014
  • Modem/router = Tesltra Gateway Max which is a router with Telstra firmware on a Netgear C6300BD-202
  • Drive seagate 1GB usb3 external

Any ideas where to start?

Here's another odd thing, Acronis is creating multiple versions of 0KB as it goes - I haven't noticed that before. So at the moment the folder has:

v1_s1_v1 0KB
v1_s1_v2 0KB
v1_s1_v3 0KB
v1_s1_v4 0KB
v1_s1_v5 0KB
v1_s1_v6 0KB
v1_s1_v7 0KB
v1_s1_v8 716,096KB

Weird?

Thanks heaps
Potsy
