Slow bootup since upgrade

Since the last upgrade on Acronis Home 2014, my laptop -Win 7 Professional, 64 bit--has become very slow to boot. Before, because I have an SSD boot drive, boot was almost instantaneous. Now, there is a lot of disk activity, and finally a screen comes up asking if I want Acronis to make changes to my disk (I run it in admin mode). It appears that Acronis is maybe doing some kind of indexing or something on every startup. I would like the program to remain dormant, not run any activity in the background, and only come when I (once a month) call for it. Any information would be appreciated.
