Small question about consolidating backups
The backup scheme that I use is that I create a full backup after every 5 incremental backups. So
full1
inc1_1
inc1_2
inc1_3
inc1_4
inc1_5
full2
inc2_1
etc.
My first though to save disk space was to consolidate a full and its incremental backups of older backups. However, I feel that I just as well can delete the incremental backups. That would leave me with all of the full backups. Or do I overlook something?

I use TI2010 so I can delete individual .tib files by the GUI.

Ok, then TI2010 provides an option in the GUI to allow deleting of .tib files which also updates the metadata database information, so no validation is needed.
Note: This is brought back in ATI 2019 & 2020 with the Clean up versions option / tool (missing from earlier versions such as 2015 - 2018).
