So much for compatibility

Thread needs solution

It seems that for each step forward that True Image takes forward, customer needs are pushed backwards. I wanted to restore a TiH 2009 image with 2011 - not possible. So I booted TiH 2009 and was immediately reminded why I upgraded to 2011 - the program is not compatible with widescreen format monitors and never could display properly on 4/3 monitors. TiH 9 displayed without problems, but Linux is free and Acronis seems too cheap to continue paying for the previous OS.

It is truly sad that Acronis cannot write a program that doesn't abandon previous attempts. I am fortunate that I have a Win XP installation on my system that enables me to restore the earlier backup. It makes no sense to support a company that forces me to maintain multiple program versions to use backups that are not yet a year old, so I will choose another backup software solution and abandon all future dealing with Acronis.

I would have preferred to quietly state my dissatisfaction, but you no longer offer direct-to-support communication. So be it.

The incompatibility does not stop there. I've been using True Image Home versions for years, but the 2011 version is terrible.

I have the "bootable rescue media", the "bootable install" disk, "BartPE" and a "WinPE" bootable version. All are at the same build level. Backup operations work fine. Unfortunately restore operations do not. One bootable reports that the the file selected is not the last file in the series. One reports that the restore file is corrupt, and one at least validates the file correctly. I do not dare try a restore. I had few problems with the 2010 and previous versions of the product, but a successful restore with Actonis True Image Home 2011 is a hit or miss operation. Unfortunately, it is mostly miss.

I've had the product for 6 months now, and they are still working on a problem that I reoprted day 1. Sorry Acronis, I'm off to find another product that I can trust. I think that it is time to give ghost a try.

PS: Disk Director has gone down hill too, it has less function than 2010, but at least seems to work. .
