Solved: ATI 2009 take about 15 minutes to analyze 5 partitions on XP

Thread needs solution

I was using True Image 10 on XP Home Edtion SP3.

Bought an upgrade to ATI 2009.

Upgrade without error.

Acronis startup screen shows up but takes for ever (about 15 minutes)

My C: drive is a PATA 120 G drive with 10 GB Secure Zone

My F drive is a SATA II   500 Gb

My G drive is a SATA II   1000 Gb

I exit and reopen again ATI 2009 again analyze for about 15 minutes.

I could not find any settings to prevent this on every program startup,

Is there a way to speed up this program startup ?

You could try disabling the Distributed Link Tracking Client service and see if it helps.

From an Acronis post:

Windows XP:

Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Services -> , find "Distributed Link Tracking Client" and double-click on it
Click the "STOP" button to stop the service
Then right-click it choose properties and set startup type to Disabled.

No more delay on ATI 2009 startup

Now about 15 sec.

Any side effect with this service disabled ?

Thanks a lot for your help !

Alain:

Not for a home user. The Distributed Link Tracking Client is only used in large domains with a domain controller running the Distributed Link Tracking Server. You can leave it disabled if you are a typical home user.

Hello Alain,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

You can safely disable Distributed Link Tracking Client Service if your computer is not in the domain. The main purposes of this service is to maintain links between NTFS files within a computer or across computers in a network domain. You can read more about this service using Microsoft KB article

There are some other reasons which can influence slow startup:

Check disks for errors:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

In some cases Acronis drivers may interfere with drivers of other software installed on your computer. E.g. Antivirus programs can seriously influence Acronis software from proper functionality. To overcome this issue you should download and install the latest builds of Antivirus software or temporarily disable it.

If nothing helps contact Acronis support and ask them provide you the latest SnapAPI drivers for Acronis True image program you have. The SnapAPI module is in charge of all I/O operations on the hard disk of Acronis software working in Windows.

I have disabled my antivirus program and ad-aware before I report this problem.

ATI2009 was still taking about 15 minutes to start.

I now have good performance on ATI2009 startup (about 15 seconds) after I have disabled Distributed link tracking client service.
