SOLVED: True Image HD from Crucial - impossible to install without internet connection?

Thread needs solution

EDIT: for anyone reading this later: apparently, it froze for ten minutes freaking out about the internet connection, but after that, I could hit the INSTALL button again (OK, I'll admit, I hit it about a hundred times in rage), and it went through anyway.

That's after the installer's UI appears to error out, doesn't provide a "continue" button, or any indication that it's not actually going to kill the install just for lack of Internet connection.

That's also after an extensive search turned up nothing at all on this error during install. It's a poor interface, poor design, and poorly documented.

Leaves a really bad impression overall. Errors, trips and traps, asking for "registration," and lots of hoops to jump through. This was an experiment and it is a failure. I usually don't go for "free trials" of proprietary, non-FOSS software, and now I'm reminded why.

UPDATE: The best part is typing a 64-digit activation key repeatedly, by hand, after registering, getting it copied, and then the inevitable typos.

This type of experience is why I normally don't bother with "registration required" software. Thank you for the reminder.
