some questions about True Image 2009
Hallo,
I have bought a copy of true image home 2009 last year. It works fine.
But I am asking two questions:
1. I have seen that there is the possibility to create new partitions.
Well, I have a quite big hard disk (C:) where the OS is installed, and I have more than 400 Gb free! I would like to create a partition (at least 300Gb).
The question is:
After I created the new partition, may I use the previous incremental backup images I made for the drive c:?
In other words, Acronis will see that the space on disk C: will not be 500 Gb, but, i.e., 100 Gb, due to the new partition. Cause the backup is of 12 Gb, the space is sufficient, but I ask you if I will have problems cause the image of those backups were made in an hard disk of different space.
2. about cosolidate backups, what happens? If I make normally incremental backups, I see them all on the directory where i saved them.
- If I consolidate, it remains just 1 file, correct?
- This big file, has inside the last changes made with incremental backups?
- after this operation, if I want to save another backup, may I save as incremental backup of the consolidated backup or have I to begin another time with a first complete backup cause in the consolidated one is not possible to add any other backups?
Thanks for reply.

Thanks.
But when you say so:
"When you Consolidate backups, you select which ones you want to keep. The oldest one will be converted into the new Full backup (assuming you didn't keep the original Full)" what do you mean with assuming that you didn't keep the original full??
I consolidated the last incremental archive.
I went to see on the external drive where the incremental archieves are stored but there are other two previous backups that i cannot delete cause files are in use by program etc etc.
If the file I consolidated is the new complete backup why I cannot delete the other archieves?
Thanks

I assume that the consolidation process has completed and TI isn't still using the locked Incremental images.
Are the files still locked after you reboot the computer?
Could you post a list of the images (filenames) before you did the consolidation and one of what it looks like now? A screenshot may also help.
If you keep the existing Full image it will be considered the oldest image and will remain the base image. Not keeping the existing Full image will cause the oldest Incremental selected to be kept to be merged as necessary to form a new Full base image (at least, this is my understanding of how it works).
From what you describe, I would agree that you should have ended up with one image file.

Ok, I rebooted the pc. I went on the directory where the incremental archieves are stored, and, yes, I removed them without problems.
I convalidated the new archieve also without problems.
I will keep the deleted archieves anycase till a new image mounting in order to be sure there will not be problems.
Back to the first problem, are you sure that when I will use this image to be mounted, there will not be problems for the fact that the program recognizes a C: directory with 100 Gb instead of 450 Gb as it wa previously?
In other words, the size of the disk is not important, what is important is that on that drive I have enough space, you said.
Have I understood correctly?
Thanks

That's correct. Restoring to a smaller partition shouldn't cause any problems as long as it's large enough to hold all the data.
