"Specify location of the volume #" on incremental backup

Thread needs solution

Tried doing a complete system restore. Main backup worked fine, but the incremental backup, which I update daily, keeps saying Specify Location of the Volume # and offers retry, browse or cancel. Nothing works, and I've tried everything, even another backup program to see if it was compatible (none seem to be).

I'm reading the comments on this topic and nothing seems to work. What is going on?

Hello Thomas!

Welcome to our Forum and thank you for joining us! I completely our concern and will be glad to assist you.

Unfortunately due to the lack of information it is hard to identify the exact cause. Usually one receives such an error in case:

  1. One of the incremental backups in the chain is corrupted
  2. The program cannot find the original backup.

So in order to localise the issue please do the following:

  1. Make sure that all the backups (incremental + full) are stored in one place
  2. Validate the archive chain specifying the latest incremental

Should all the archives be in one folder and successfully validated, we will need to take a closer look at the issue. Please gather the following information:

  1. Full error message
  2. Screenshot of the backup location
  3. Acronis Info

After that please kindly contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
