specify place of volume

Thread needs solution

TIH 2010 - WinXP Trying to restore data from imagebackup. Chose targetvolume - Warning "specify place for Volume 1" search / repeat / cancel. When I cancel the warning - the same for volume 2 and so on. I'm allready at 458. What does it mean? How can I stop it?
Thanks Michael

I think these message are not about the target, but about the backup file source. True Image appears to be looking for the files (volumes) that belong to the backup set you are trying to restore from. If these files have been moved or deleted, the software will prompt for their location during a validation or restore. If you keep canceling the warnings, hopefully at some point it will find the file it needs to start/continue the restore.

If the backup task was using the incremental method, it is possible that you could have 400+ files if this task has been running for years.

Did you Validate the backup file first, before using/depending on it for doing a restore?

Are you doing the restore from within Windows or booted to your Rescue Media?
