SSD Samsung 840EVO mSATA alignment

Thread needs solution

Hello

Using a mSATA to IDE converter i put this in my old Sony Vaio VGN-FS395VP laptop that runs XP professional. I just slapped it in, booted up with an Acronis TI2014 recovery disk and transferred the entire image including hidden recovery parition to the new SSD.

Everything workes perfectly an even though it's IDE in the end I notice a substantial performance boost.

I know XP doesn't support TRIM but I am more concerned about alignment. After searching through the net I found some checks but I don't know if I read them or if they are correct.

The first was using diskpart:

As you can see only the OEM(recovery parition) shows the offset in kb, the others in mb. As far as I understand the offset should be divisible by four 1024.2048 or 4096.

Then I used a freeware program called disk alignment test that said everything is OK:

Finally I tried Minitool that said the same thing:

Does this mean I am in the green or do I need to reinstall?

Your fine, alignment is correct for a Solid State Drive

Thank you, that's a relief to hear. Do you know if the alignment will be kept if I in turn make a backup of the SSD?

Alignment should remain intact however checking to make sure is always the best policy.
