Startup Recovery Manager install into OS Selector doesn't work
Hi,
I just bought upgrades Disk Director 11 and TrueImage 2011 and installed them. Then I had to re-setup my OS Selector but it's working fine now.
But when I try to install the "Startup Recovery Manager" from TrueImage 2011 into OS Selector, everything seems to work ok. I can choose to install and get a warning that old OS Selectors prior to build xxx won't support this (but as said above I'm using the latest OS Selector from Disk Director 11) and then I get a confirmation message box that Startup Recovery Manager was installed.
Now when I start OS Selector I do have an entry for Acronis Startup Recovery Manager apart from the OS'ses I had configured. But when I choose to boot into Acronis Startup Recovery Manager it doesn't work.
What happens is the following: When it tries to boot the recovery manager I think the monitor goes into "text mode" (maybe displaying something) for a fraction of a second. It's just some kind of flashing I notice, but after then it suddenly tries to boot my Windows XP from the first partition (after the OS Selector Partition). But the booting of Windows stops at some point (I guess because visible/hidden partitons are not set correct cause I wanted to boot into startup recovery mode) and the computer crashes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really have no clue how I can make the recovery manager work in OS Selector.
Thank you.

Hi,
I totally forgot about the problem but stumbled acaross it yesterday. Unfortunately I just missed the 30 days purchase period for a few days so I can no longer request a support ticket.
About the recovery media: The recovery media works as expected I can start TrueImage 11 or DiskDirector 11 from the rescue media (linux style).
But I have a question about the bootwiz.oss and the recovery manager: Where is the recovery manager installed? I though it is installed into the OS Selector partition right? If so, how can you boot into recovery manager because booting the os selector partition just launches OS Selector but not the recovery manger right? So, what should the bootwiz.oss look like, wouldn't it be needed that Recovery Manager is installed into a separate partition and boot that partition?
Of course I can post the bootwiz.oss, just let me know.
Best regards,
Marc

The recoverey manager is installed to the MBR, it overwrites the booting code that is there. If your PC is a home built one then you need have no concern about this, if you have a brand name PC especially a Dell or Gateway (but Sony and HP/Compaq as well to some extent), you might lose the special F button process that might take you to their recovery partition or powered off media buttons.
Mudcrab is the expert on OSS matters, so if you still have a problem, he might know the answer.
