Stopping non-stop backup
I see the Acronis non-stop backup task running in my system. But I don't use this service.
There does not appear to be anyway to turn the service off from inside Acronis.
Is the only way to stop this service form running to disable the service itself?

Hello all,
Thank you very much for your posts. I will definitely help you.
Joe,
You can simply stop the Acronis Nonstop Backup service in Windows. Click on start, select run and type services.msc
Right click on the Nonstop Backup service and select stop. Then, right click on it again, click on properties and select in the startup type dropbox disabled setting. This should do it.
Leo,
Please check the screenshot attached to my post. In the main program menu, if you like to pause the non stop backup, simply click on the pause button. To delete the nonstop backup task, simply right click on the nonstop backup job and select Delete backup.
If you have additional questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

I have a problem similar to Leo.
I created a non-stop backup but sent it to my NAS disk. I later realized that this was not supported.
When I went to the meno to "Delete backup", I get the error message "ERROR - file not found" and cannot delete the nonstop backup.
What do I do no?
I have ATIH 2011.
Thanks!
Chuck

When shutting down, option to pause non-stop and other backups would be nice. And pick up where it was paused the next day or next startup.
Seeing status of the backup - Windows backup status window, and task bar, showing % and time.
Now that I have uninstalled TI2011 I'm finding I have to deal with another issue as well with enabling Windows Backup services.
I was surprised that the system would likely be running for a couple hours and didn't realize I couldn't shutdown or that a task was running.
The 'fix' to me is too many steps, awkward, not very polished:
You can simply stop the Acronis Nonstop Backup service in Windows.
Click on start, select run and type services.msc
Right click on the Nonstop Backup service and select stop.
Then, right click on it again and select in the startup type dropbox disabled setting.
This should do it.

When I follow the advice to stop nonstop backup, the icon in the taskbar has an x, but the icon does NOT disappear. I want to permanently stop nonstop backup, and I don't want the nonstop icon in the taskbar.
How do I permanently stop the nonstop backup.
See attached screen shot of icon in taskbar
Thanks.

The right click explorer menu can be disabled in 2011 by going to help, settings, integrate into windows, and unchecking all the boxes there (assuming you want to suppress all integration)

I'm a new user who is easily confused! But I'd like to say that it seems to me rather pathetic that the only way to disable non-stop backup appears to be via the Windows 'Start' button. Clearly there should be a straightforward way of doing it from within the Acronis home screen!
Sorry to be so negative this early on!
PS I want to disable it because I don't need it and also because while running it seems to interfere with the normal operation of my laptop -- e.g. things can freeze up, Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work, among other symptoms.

I am not able to scroll down to the bottom of my home screen. So I am not able to edit any of the non-stop backup settings shown in your screenshot.
I am attaching a screenshot of what I am seeing.
I have killed the "Acronis Non Stop Backup" process, but I am still seeing the file backing up.
Any thoughts?
Machine XP SP 3
I have tried setting the Display properties to both Windows Classic Style and Windows XP Style

I just upgraded to the new Acronis True Image 2011 Plus from an older version. At this moment I am VERY unhappy with the new version since I can't turn off the CPU hog "nonstop backup". I knew when I read the box in the store that I wouldn't use that because it would use all my resources. I had no idea you couldn't turn it off!!!! I am upset that your instructions about how to turn it off are confusing me too. Why did you not program this with a simple "turn off" or "disable" button? Or better yet, why is it not turned off until I choose to turn it on? Right now I am upset at the money I had to spend for this hog. I will figure out how to turn it off. But, this has taken a very HAPPY customer and turned them into a very UNHAPPY customer.

Michael,
You should restart the service, then cancel the backup that you see running in ATI. If you cannot stop it, delete the hidden folder Time Explorer Storage in the destination folder, reboot. Restart ATI, pause the Non-stop backup, then delete the Non-stop backup ("Operations > Delete backup").
If you cannot stop it, see if it can complete, then delete it.
Then you can disable the service if you wish to do so.
