Storage space required?

Thread needs solution

I am currently using a 500 gig external HDD, but this is too small sometimes. Where does Acronis tell me exactly how much space it needs, and how can I exclude backing up another HDD I have that has photos on it?

You need enough room on the target for all the fulls and incs and diffs plus one more full backup because ATI makes a new backup before deleting any older backups--this is to ensure that backups don't get deleted unless a new one is successfully created. Having ample space costs more but is much less of a headache than having barely enough. Having ample space also means you can store more than one backup, which, believe me, can come in handy when you find out your PC started going wonky before your last backup.

In Diskmode, ATI will backup only the hard disk specified so you shouldn't need to exclude any other hard disks.

If you want to backup some but not all of the logical drives on a harddisk (e.g., you physical drive unit is logically divided into several drives), then in partition mode you can select the partitions you want to backup.
