Support for IBM ServeRAID MR10i SAS/SATA Controller

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm looking for a server image cloning software that can support 2 SAS HDDs configured as RAID 1 which is using IBM ServerRAID MR10i SAS/SATA Controller. Can the Acronis boot disk detect the disk natively? The datasheet did not state SAS as a supported storage media type.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello.

Unfortunately I could not confirm with 100% certainty whether that particular RAID controller is officially supported in the Bootable Media or not. I looked at the specs and saw that it uses the LSI 1078 SAS controller, which should work with the bootable disk. In any case, even if some piece of hardware is not recognized by the Linux-based Bootable Media, Acronis products offer the possibility of creating custom WinPE-based Media with all the necessary drivers. You can read more on that here.

I would recommend trying out the Trial version of the software and seeing whether it works for you.

Also, seeing as you have a server environment I would like to recomend that you have a look at Acronis Backup, which supports a wider range of operating systems, whereas Acronis True Image is oriented towards home users.

Hello,

I use an IBM M5014 controller with RAID0 on SSD's disks. Since the IBM M5014 and your MR10i use the same drivers:

You should be fine. I know I have restored from a boot disk many times, and it sees my arrays on the RAID controller just fine.

I have the boot array as RAID0 with 4 SSD's, and I have my data array with 3 5TB regular disks in RAID5. I backup the RAID0 to the RAID5 daily without issues, unless of course I try to manually use the GUI while booted into Windows, then I have problems, but never with the backup, only the restore or deleting jobs in 2015 (2014 never had these issues).
