Synchronising without internet

Thread needs solution

Hi

I bought Acronis True Image 2012 last year, at the time I did not know the difference between synchronisation and backup of my data. What I want to do is to SYNCHRONISE my data.

When I started to do this last year I was told that I had to connect to the internet but I do not want to do this. At that stage I wasn't sure whether I was backing up or synchronising.

So my question is can the product i bought able to synchronise without connecting to the ineternet.

To set up the sync you need to be logged in, because ATI saves some sync setup metadata on their servers, even if it is a local disk sync, but it doesn't store data on their servers unless you set up the sync to do so.

Of course, sync won't happen if the sync is with another computer on the network and one of the computer is not connected.

I don't know off the top of my head whether, after it has been setup while the computer is online, a local sync will actually run after the computer is disconnected, but this is something you can easily try yourself (I don't use sync for local syncs). I know that ATI will ask you to log in when you launch the ATI app, and that you will lose the sync "play/pause" buttons, but I am not sure whether the local sync task is actually running or not.
