Synchronization question -- excluded data types
I read in the ATIH 2012 User Guide that certain data types cannot be synchronized:
- databases
- email data (including Outlook)
Why?
I need to synchronize folders that contain, for example, WAMP, which contains mySQL databases. These are just files. Why can't they be synchronized? The same thing is true for Outlook email data -- it is also in a file (.pst).
If ATIH has permissions to the folder, why can't it synchronize any type of file that is in that folder?
I also synchronize folders containing executables -- is that a supported data type?
I'd really appreciate understanding this.
thanks,
Tom

This is an addition to a LONG-inactive communication, but I've now been testing File Synchronization with True Image 2014 and have some results that might be relevant to at least True Image 2014 situations...
I'm finding the file synchronization DOES copy Microsoft Access files that are in *.mdb format, but does NOT copy Microsoft Access files that are in the newer .accdb (Access 2007) format.
Like, Tom, I'm a little surprised this wouldn't be handled. I personally just view the database files to be "files" in a pretty straightforward way. When I close a database (either *.mdb or *.accdb format), it seems to ME to be pretty similar to closing a Microsoft Excel file that I've been working on. After I close it, it's an updated version of the file and it's suitable for syncing with other folders within my own use.
And it does seem a little odd that *.mdb (say, an Access 2003 database) IS synchronized while the more recent *.accdb format is NOT. Conceptually, the situation would SEEM pretty similar regardless of whether you're using Access 2003 or Access 2007 format for your databases. Certainly, I understand there MAY be some more detailed thinking about why one format can be synchronized, but not the other. But I can't really see a clear reason for this difference myself.
