System Clean-up Wizard - Hard Disk Free Space Clean up WAY too fast. Doesn't do anything that I can see. :-(
Hi all,
I'm trailing True Image Home 2010 (for home use), but although I am trialing I am not new to Acronis software. Generally I have found the imaging and other features of the software to be pretty good. One thing, however, that I can't seem to get to work is the Hard Disk Free Space clean up. Unless I am mistaken, if I am running DoD (3 pass) with 100's Gb of free space it should take hours to run, but Acronis is always "done" in a matter of seconds. Checking with a free utility such as Pandora afterwards shows that the clean up has in fact cleaned NOTHING at all.
I tried this in True Image v11 (a trial I downloaded some time ago) and seeing I'm now running Win7 I figured I should try the latest offering (2010), and it's exactly the same. It's over in seconds and doesn't do anything.
So, is this feature just broken (admittedly it's a peripheral feature to the main functionality) or could I be missing something obvious?
My systems are Windows 7 x64 and are both RAID 0, with TrueCrypt encryption. I've found that other cleanser apps have no problem with that (it's just a mounted volume... encryption and RAID0 should be abstracted away at the level software I/O occurs) and certainly Acronis has no problems backing up RAID 0 TrueCrypt encrypted systems (one of the reasons I'm here to begin with) so I don't see why this infinitely easier task would cause Acronis problems?
Any tips, thoughts or experiences would be appreciated. At this point I can't bring my self to pay for this software if the functionality I'm paying for doesn't all work!
