System Hangs after Install on Windows 10 Pro !

Thread needs solution

Hi, I just installed W10Pro on my desktop via DVD. Everytime I install Acronis True Backup 2015 the system starts freezong after a few minutes.

As soon as I remove the Software, I can work fine for hours. Any Idea ?

Hello, as this is a new installation of Windows 10 Pro, have you ensured that you have also installed all the latest updates for Windows?

Have you downloaded the latest build #6613 version of Acronis True Image 2015 from the Acronis web site - you will find this when you sign in to your 'My Account' pages and look at your list of registered products.

I would recommend downloading a clean copy of the installation media and trying again with that - you may wish to run the Acronis 2015 Clean Up tool and running that before doing so, to ensure that you get a clean install.

Hi,

Windows is Up-to-date.

I ran the cleaner and will try a re-install and report back, but i doubt it's that easy.

Ok this did not help.

I can re-produce this now in Minutes.

Some more background to this:

Till some days I was running W10 Home, on this machine with TI 2015 without a problem. This machine was upgraded from W7 Home.

Last weekend I did a fresh install using the lates W10 Pro build. I also enabled TPM and Bitlocker, something I did not had running on W10 Home !

Since then, when I run the install of TI 2015 and let the Machine sit for some minutes on the "Finish installation" screen, it's a 100% garantee hang.

Thank you for the additional information to clarify what is happening here on your system.

A search in the Acronis forums found the following hit which suggests disabling Bitlocker *before* installing ATIH 2015 then enabling it after the install has completed successfully.

Thanks, just to confirm, you mean Disable, like remove Bitlocker install ATIH 2015 reboot then enable Bitlocker again and let it encrypt the drive ?

Or is stopping bitlocker also ok ?

I am not an expert regarding Bitlocker but from reading up on this, it seems that you should be able to disable it without needing to unencrypt your drive; see the following Microsoft post (this was aimed at Windows Vista where Bitlocker was first introduced, but the principle should be the same for later versions of Windows):

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-vista/what-is-the-difference-between-disabling-bitlocker-drive-encryption-and-decrypting-the-volume

You should only need to do this for the partition where you are installing ATIH 2015, any other partitions can remain as you have them in regard to Bitlocker.

Thanks tried Stopping without Decrypting, but my system hang shortly after the install again.

I tried ATIH 2016yesterday and this did not seem to have a problem.

I might try decrypting my drive and giving it another try, but at the moment ATIH 2015 is a no go for me.
