System will not shutdown if backup drive (usb) is not attached?

Thread needs solution

I found this KB item https://kb.acronis.com/content/19016 which describes my issue.

My issue occurs when i take my laptop home and work from there. At that point my usb attached hard drive that i use for backup is no longer connected and I am unable to shutdown (I have to force power off).

Is there a setting in TI to prevent TI from doing it's thing when the backup drive is not connected so that I can shutdown cleanly and without issue?

Do you regularly unmount the drive before you end your work session at work? I would think if you are just shutting down your machine and then unplugging the drive then, later restarting the app last known status for the drive was connected so when shutdown is initiated the second time TI is preventing shutdown awaiting USB drive unmounting or disconnect to procede with normal shutdown. That never happens so it hangs the app.
