Take ownership of cleaned drive

Thread needs solution

I am using TI Home 2011 with Windows7 Home Premium 64bit. I have an old drive
that had several backups from previous versions of TI Home. I had no use for
them so I ran Drive Cleanser on it. When I try to format this drive it says I do
not have permissions etc. etc....I used the security tab to try to take
ownership as the current Administrator as outlined in several Microsoft forums. Under the advanced tab, it says "Unable to display current owner". And when I select the administrator and attempt to apply it, I get the "Access is denied" message. Does anyone have
any idea how I can gain access to this drive?

Create a Windows recovery CD, or use you installation CD and use it to recreate the partition(s) you want on that drive using DISKPART. Be careful to make sure you know which drive you are acting upon as drive letters might change between Windows and the Windows recovery CD.

Thanks for the reply but I have found a quicker and safer way. I managed to restore the original partition using Partition Wizard. When the drive was in that condition, I was unable to see it using Windows Disk Management. Using PW, I was able to restore the original partition. I could not create a new one or rename the old one. But once the original was restored, I can see it Disk Management and do whatever I want with it.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
