Templates for «before/after command» files

Thread needs solution

Hello!

Excuse me to probably use a wrong term, «before/after command», since I only have my german version to my hands. But I think, you get aware of my intention.

Do there exist some templates of (to my opinion, using Windows) batch files as those «before/after command» files?

I get rid of running - and by intention not using ASZ - scheduled backups getting confrontated by running out of disk space in, relatively, short time again and agian.
Simply, oldest archive in chosen backup folder must be erased before starting backup. I do not assume to find a solution abut checking free disk space (whst, at all, has it's onw benefits to keep space for other issues).
Trick is to get that oldest file, and I do not see some quick an easy filters in CMD to catch a file by it's file system date.

Markus,
The program will not delete oldest first and then create the backup.
The program creates the replacement backup before deleting the oldest so you must allow room for this temporary use of space.

Your problem of the always not having enough disk space can be resolved by using a custom backup scheme.
Click on link #2 below and set up your own custom backup scheme as per the illustrations 11-Full, or 11-Dif, or 11-Inc.
Do take the time to read the text information associated with each example.

These example will provide for automatic deletion of old backups when the option "store no more than X recent version chains." is reached. The program will temporary create the next full before deleting the oldest chain.
