Test backup

Thread needs solution

I downloaded TI 2010, used one click to backup. Verified the backup on DVD.
Now, it says it corrupted. How Do i check if there is an usable backup.
There is SystemBackup_ date. tib on DVD.

Can I use this backup to run XP under Windows 7 using VMware. I have loaded XP into a VMware VM from orignal disk.

Thanks.

I do not use DVD as the destination for a backup as if the size requires 4 or more dvd discs, when it comes time to restore there will be numerous repeated disc swaps required. I also don't use 1 click as I prefer to have control of what is backed up, what name to give the backup and where it goes.
Did you backup XP or Win 7?
If you do not have a spare hard drive to do an actual restore then the next best thing is to use the bootable CD to validate the backup.

I stripped XP to 8GB, used only 1 DVD to backup. No files but programs. On install of Win 7, I created a unused partition of 19GB for linux or (whatever--backup.)

I dont have a spare Hard drive. PLs more on bootable CD idea (process). thx

Look among the menu items in your True Image installed software for something like "Make Bootable Rescue Media". It has all the basic features of the installed software, including the ability to validate an Image.

This sux. The Backup doesnt work from boot and cant be mountable. Is this product any good? This was my first time using it.

Hello,

First of all, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience you experienced to make the backup on DVD's. I will help you with this situation.

This backup corruption could happen because of DVD media quality.

AZ BEn, in your situation I would not recommend to use DVD's as the backup destination. This backup is good when you're performing it on one DVD, but in case of multiple CD\DVD media you will be prompted to swap the media many times, since one file from the image can be stored on several disks.

In this case, I would recommend you to copy the files to your internal\external drive. If you're not able to do so, please recreate the backup and select HDD as the destination.

Also, DwnNDrty gave you a correct recommendation: please try to perform the operations using Acronis Bootable Media. Then boot your machine from it and you will be able to use Acronis True Image without booting any OS. Acronis Bootable Rescue Media is a standalone version of Acronis True Image Home, burned onto a CD and based on a Linux operating system.

Please check 15 Chapter of this User's Guide for the detailed information.

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Regards,
