Is there no way to setup a Full/Differential/Incremental Custom Scheme w/Auto Cleanup?

Thread needs solution

Perhaps I am simply not understanding as I am new to TrueImage but I am trying to create what I consider to be a standard type of backup scheme but cannot figure out how to get it setup or if it would even work.

Currently using 5551 on Windows 8

I want to have essentially the following happen:

Full Backup - Once a month on the same date in the AM

Then I want Incrementals in the evening starting the same day as the Full Backup and run for the next 6 nights.

Then, on the 7th night (14th, 21st, etc) I want a differential to be created based on the most recent Full Backup. I then want the last week's incrementals deleted.

This process should continue until 1 month from the last Full at which time I would do another Full Backup and delete everything else.

Is my thinking in this wrong? I see this as the best method for efficient backups with the added quickest possible turnaround for a restore should one be needed. Thanks!

You need to create three separate backup tasks:

- one to create a Full backup monthly
- one to create Incremental backups. The first backup in that set will automatically be a Full backup.
- one to create Differential backups. The first backup in that set will automatically be a Full backup.

Each task can be set to your chosen schedule. Each should backup to a different folder.

Check out the many user guides and tutorials in the left margin of this forum, particularly Getting Started and Grover's True Image Guides which are illustrated with step-by-step screenshots.

Mike,
In addition to the suggestion by MVP Tuttle, spend some time looking at link #2 below.
The examples of 11-Full; 11-Inc and 11-Diff are illustations of how these tasks can be configured. Do take the time to read all the comments associated with those 3 types of setups.

As each backup type begins with a full, you might want to consider setting your start date (for each task) on different dates so each full occurs on a different day or date--spread equally apart.

Be aware that the program will not delete the oldest backup until after a replacment has been created so there is always a need for extra space during the backup creation time before the deletion occurs.
