TI 2009 Clone of HD fails with can not read sector 0

Thread needs solution

First I have a windows NT machine. (Why don't ask, don't tell, I have heard it all) On it is a special software package. One very important operating system file has been modified by what was the software vendor. (No longer in business) I have tried to re-install NT on a different drive and copy this file over to it but, the software crashes and doesn't work using this method. The only way I have been able to figure out a backup is to clone the drive. I boot the machine to the Bootable CD and run the cloning package. I tried to clone the drive and it went all the way through until the last 8 seconds and then crashes saying it cannot read sector 0 of the new cloned HD. It started just fine and the meter was going up just fine. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Joel

Hello Joel,

Let me assist you with this situation.

This error message means that our product is not able to access Master Boot Record of your hard drive. This can be caused by some third part backup \ encryption software or some special configuration of your HDD.

I assume that you're not able to boot this operating system, so disabling the software is not a solution here. In this case, you may try creating a backup in sector-by-sector method. You will be able to back up unsupported or encrypted partition.

If the issue still persists, please collect Acronis Report file, which will help us to analyze the structure of your hard drives.

  • Download Acronis Report utility;
  • Run Acronis Report utility and select the Create bootable media option;
  • Insert a blank CD or a flash drive and proceed with creating the bootable media;
  • Boot the computer under consideration from the created media. Choose Safe version if you are going to save the report to an internal hard disk. Choose Full version if you are going to save the report to a network share or external USB disk. Wait for report creation process to complete;
  • Acronis Report will appear on the selected media as report.txt.

Please attach the file to your answer in this thread, I will analyze the file and let you know the results.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.
