TI 2009 Consolidation of Incramental Backups

Thread needs solution

FIRST OFF, IS THIS THE ONLY FORUM IN HISTORY WITHOUT A SEARCH FUNCTION?

I have Acronis 2009 Home after using 11 since it's introduction.  I like the new interface, although there is a LOT of duplication among the menus.  I understand it makes the program look like there are more functions than are really there, but sometimes less is more.   People want simplicity in backups.  If the same option is available in 3-4 different windows, the user questions weather they are backing up appropriately, uncertainty is the LAST thing you want with backup software.  Just my humble opinion.

Anyway, my question is this:  I am setting up a backup task, to be run daily.  The task is incremental to and a new "base" archive is to be created after every 10 incremental backups.  I have also set it to consolidate space every 30 days.  So my question is about day >30, on day 31 my initial "base" archive should be erased, this will make the 10 incremental archives based on that archive useless.  Will it delete all archives in the set?  (therefore I should up my days to 40).  Will it delete one archive per day, leaving me with a decreasing number of useless archives until the new "base" is reached?  How are incremental backups handled with space consolidation enabled?

I do like that this scheduled task can be run manually as well, for instance right before a program install, very nice indeed

First off the forum does have a search function, see the TOP!

Second, I am same as in used TI11 since its release and now have 2009.

Third, why use so many incrementals? That is asking for trouble, I would suggest no more than three incs before a new full one on a daily basis. And why ask for more trouble by consolidating? I am well aware that the software says it is able to do what it says but do you honestly trust any windows software to work so well - it is usually the inadequacies of windows that causes probs - I certainly don't however much I trust TI11. Full backups only for me thank you, using well proportioned partitions.
