TI 2009 uninstall/re-install; how? (this is worse than trying to remove a virus!!)

Thread needs solution

I used the Windows XP control panel to remove (I thought) Acronis TrueImage Home 2009 from my PC.
Then, when I tried to re-install it to get a good clean copy, the 'modify/repair/remove' panel came up.
Uh-oh. I tried remove. It failed because the application was removed (yeah, brilliant.)
Then I went into regedit; had to remove about agazillion references to 'Acronis' and 'TrueImage'; even had to change permissions on a few and add myself - even though I am sysadmin on this PC - to remove them.
Then I went to this forum and searched on 'uninstall' and '2009' - BIG UH-OH. Apparently there a a lot of people trying to figure this out.

WHAT I HAVE ALREADY DONE USING POSTS ON THIS SUBJECT:
I ran the tool to remove the service
I ran the Acronis 'uninstaller'

Still no luck. Although I can find no vestige of this program in the registry, every time I try to run a clean install, I get the 'modify/repair/remove' panel.

Can anyone get this thing removed completely so I can get a clean install?
This is absolutely ridiculous!!!

Use CCleaner to clean Temporary and Temporary Internet files. Also look for a subfolder in Program Files for anything to do with Acronis or True Image.

You can also try using a Windows Restore point that is dated before you first installed True Image.

Already used CCleaner; to no avail.
Unfortunately, after a WXP crash; I did a clean install, then installed TrueImage and have used it for all backups - in short, there is no 'pre-acronis' Image for me.

I understand the 'pay for support' vs. 'forums' approach Acronis is using here - and for most things I wouldn't kick; but they clearly have a severe problem in their programs w/r/t to installing and I would think they'd get a clue that this isn't the way to make their customers happy - I am not about to pay to get someone to clean this up.

If I have to do a re-install of this system; which is a major pain, I will ensure that Acronis doesn't play into it from this point forward; I hope someone on Acronis' payroll picks up on this and gets me a fix!

Hello Randy and DwnNDrty,

Randy, we're really sorry for the difficulties you have experienced with Acronis software. To uninstall Acronis True Image 2009 Home you can use Acronis CleanUp utility available at this link. For more information on how to work with the utility please refer to this KB article.

If Acronis CleanUp tool didn't work for you, you can uninstall the software manually using the detailed instructions from KB article.

Please reply to this thread if there will be any further questions.
