TI 2010 b7046 failed to read sector....crc error 0x100155

Thread needs solution

In Win7 x64 on a WD Vraptor SATA II drive I get this error. I've run check disk (required reboot) no errors. Ran 3x. WD program to check deeper into drive not updated yet for Win7 (Data Lifeguard Diagnostics v1.17)
Been using TI for years, always worked great. This is first time using on new Gigabyte p55 i7 MB with same HD's that were backed up and verified for rebuild. All drivers updated.
Suggestions to get TI back up working?
Thanks

Hello K L,

I'll do my best to resolve the issue, but first of all I need some additional information to investigate the problem thoroughly.

Most likely standard CHKDSK utility can't find any errors, but they exists, or there are some software compatibility issues.

Could you please gather AcronisInfo tool output (with all drives attached) and attach it to your reply to this thread?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

I've got the same problem, with the same build (this is the only version of ATI ever installed on this machine). Has this ever been solved? Thanks.

D S
I figured it out. I had the drive connected to the Motherboard 6Mb SATA port. The version of TI I have dose not see that put SATA port properly. The latest builds probably do. I just moved the cable to a free 3Mb SATA port on the MB and IT worked perfectly.

K L--
Thanks for the fast response. Unfortunately, my problem must be different, because my motherboard only has 3Mb SATA ports. I'll try gathering the AcronisInfo tool output, and punt it to Ilya.

I'm having the same issue. Win7, 64 bit. Backing up to an external USB hard drive. Repeated CRC errors. Any news?

Same Problem, any news

Has TI been working correctly and suddenly started giving the above error messages?

If it has been working, then it might be worth checking if any or all of you have recently applied any Microsoft updates or installed any new programs.

I get the same error message.
First I got the message "Snapshot von Volumen kann nicht erstellt werden". I found a possible solution in this forum : installed an update of SnapAPI and ran chkdsk C: /r which sent the message "no errors on C:". then I tried again to backup the partion C: to a DVD and got the same message "Lesen der Daten von der Festplatte fehlgeschlagen".
According to this forum I ran AcronisInfo.exe which ended with error messages. I added an jpg-image with these messages to the attached AcronisInfo.zip.
I have TI 11 Build 8105 with XP SP3.

Haymo

Edit: after I posted this I tried again to backup C: to DVD and got the error message: "E00070021 Snapshot vom Volumen kann nicht erstellt werden".

I have the same problem. I have a bootable disk in a USB box that I want to make a image of. That image I want to write to a new SSD disk. When trying to build a backup partion image, I get a 0x100155 CRC error. Any news on this issue?

Is there another way of doing cloning a disk with only one USB disk holder?

Windows 7

I am having the same problem with TI Home 2011. It did not happen with either TI Home V11, 2009 or 2010. For me, I have daily backup jobs for a few logical partitions. The backups run at a certain time or if missed, these run immediately on the start of Windows.

The error happens only on my C: drive which is where Windows7 64-bit resides. This never happens on my other logical partitions. Chkdsk and Partition Wizard Surface revals no errors on the disk. The error is intermittant but it seems something is locking out the backup and preventing the read. It does not happen at the same block number.

This is very frustrating as this stops all the other backups. If I cancel the job (which takes ages) and re-run, the job completes normally. I think there is a bug in 2011.

Please

Hi,

I have this bug already in Acronis True Image Home 11! When I tried the test version 2010 I also had this bug! Therefore I think this is a general bug of this software family!
After I got this error message in spite of the fact that I did all the changes which are mentioned above I did only one thing: I moved the backup time into the night hours! Because I found out that this problem only came up when a few other programs where running in parallel. When I restarted the system and started this software without starting other programs it works (most time!).
Now I start the backup after 11pm and normally it runs without problems. But sometimes I still get this error message. Then I start this backup again in the morning.

Because of these problems I did not buy a new version of this software - I'm not interested to buy a buggy software. An other interesting thing is that nobody from Acronis seems to be interested to solve this! This is the second reason Why I'm not interested to buy software from Acronis in the future!

Bought T! 2013 just before 2014 launch. Installed and eventually got round to partitioning main drive and two external hard drives for system, document and media backups.

The one off's seem to be OK and a couple of the incremental ones too but one which I am trying to back up from a partition on the (new) c drive to a partition on one of the external drives reads (0x10C45A) CRC error (0x100155) The text says failed to read from sector ............of hard disk 1 Try to repeat if error persists. Check disk using check disk utility and create back up of disk. Failed to read snapshot.

Have tried several times but get same message. Used check disk and a couple of other disk repair utilities - all say no errors.

Also bought 250 gb annual subscription to cloud but when started to back up (about 200 gb) if said it would take 5 days (I have BT infinity and speeds are excellent), clearly I am not going to leave the computer on backing up for 5 days so can someone please help me with these two problems.

I am a reasonably computer savy little old lady! although I have replaced lap top hard drives, I wouldnt tinker with my main pc so dont know what is linked to what.... Thanks in advance - so very grateful for any help

ch ha:

Run chkdsk /r on each partition of the internal drive, and on the external HD. If there are hidden partitions, assign letters to them so you can chkdsk.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

How is the external HD connected?

As for cloud backup, backing up an entire system will take a long time even on a high bandwidth connection. Do the math (another forum user posted some typical calculations) and you'll see that it simply requires a lot of time.

Most home Internet connections have upload rates that are considerably slower than the download rates, usually just a fraction of the download rate. The time taken to upload so much data likely has more to do with your own Internet connection.

Hi Tuttle
Thanks so much for help.....really appreciate people like you who provide this support voluntarily - you are a gem!

About my issues and your suggestions.......have already run check disk on all the partitions and both new internal and external drive - nothing showing.

No hidden partitions so no need to do that bit -

not sure how to go about running check disk from drive manufacturer - if this is where you right click on the partitions and use check disk under tools, I have already tried that but will do so again because since I posted originally, two other incremental backups from the same (but partitioned) internal hard drive have started to fail also - all with same error message and all showing the same sector on disk 1 (which I assume is the internal hd) They backed up OK previously

External drive connected via usb port at back of tower (plus mains plug).

Thanks for info about cloud - hadn't thought about slower upload so guess I shall just try and do a bit at a time!

Still stuck, so would really appreciate any other thoughts - internal hard drive is only a couple of months old so should be OK, upgraded to TB as I started to store stuff on the Hd which I never did before, I saved everything to external drives which were only switched on when I needed to save anything - paranoid security I guess.

Thanks again

ch

Did you run chkdsk /r (with the /r option)? The default chkdsk /f does not check for bad sectors.

Hi again - and thanks for help. don't know but when i get computer working I will check again as you suggest. Have bigger problem at moment! I do think acronis is partly if not fully responsible for it too as it was so so stable before I started playing around with acronis backups!
I have windows 7 professional 64 bit and cant get past welcome screen. Just goes black. Have tried everything I can think of safe mode, restore to last good configuration, system restore (it wouldn't) system repair and so on. Am now trying to work out how to get to be able to run msconfig even though I cant get to the start screen........so if you can help there that would be amazing!
If I go to msconfig I am just hoping against hope that there is something in system start up I can do. I delete everything but windows as a rule but when i looked the other day it was about 20 things so I deleted. I KNOW I wouldn't have deleted the windows one but I will check anyhow - when I can get to system configuration!!!!!
Cheers ch

I don't entirely understand your statement, but this worries me. If you're deleting system files, you could easily have caused the boot failure.
