TI 2010 Backup consolidation operation

Thread needs solution

How is backup consolidation supposed to function in True Image 2010? The help does not make this behavior clear, only on how consolidation is triggered based on the various options.

I ask because I set automatic consolidation if number of backups exceed 4 and my backup plan is set to incremental. I've noticed that the system took 5 backups (first was full then 4 incremental), but starting after Backup5, I have a string of characters. So it looks like:

Backup5
Backup5-XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Backup6
etc.

Can someone explain

1.) How this consolidation is supposed to work and
2.) Why does it not appear to be working

True Image 2010 (7046)
Windows 7 x64

The scheduler has become confused.

At any time during consolidation has the PC gone into sleep mode or been interrupted insome way, disk full for example?

The files with a CSLID type file name are the temporary files that TI makes during the consolidation process. They are left behind if the task database is confused or if the task has been interrupted somehow.

After checking that all you images are up to date you can delete this file. You might find that you will need to remake the task. You'll know this because TI will ask for that file and refuse to image that task.

Thanks for the reply. While I'm not absolutely certain with every instance, I believe the backup operation completed successfully on most. The backup target disk has plenty of free space. Does the program perform any of these consolidations after the task says it completed successfully? I found and am reading the user guide and understand the intended operation but still can't see why these operations aren't completing how it was setup.

The consolidation works before the backup is run.

Try running a manual consolidation. to do that you need to click on Recover and then select the archive.
