TI 2010- error RPC service not available
I am trying to back up a laptiop whose disk is dying--it is running right now, but locks up frequently--sometimes won't boot.
TI lets me go through setting up a backup, picking what to back up (EVERYTHING this time), where to save it (EXT USB drive), but when last step is clicked, it pops up error that RPC service is not available.
I look in services and there are two RPC services there--both are in "started" state = they ARE running.
What do I do? This laptop is going off to contract repair. I will wipe it before it leaves, and I REALLY need to get this backup done before that.

Are you running from the recovery cd or trying to run from windows? I'd suggest running from the the CD.

Running from Windows as I have always done--and gotten good, valid images (restored a couple of times).
But I found the problem. In order to reduce the "everything wants its stuff to run 100% of time as a service," I had marked the Acronis services to Manual start. Yet, they DID NOT start when the Trueimage client was opened! Something wrong there. But, I started the two services and the backup ran fine--it was the Acronis services not running that caused the error--which BTW gave no clue that it was the Acronis service that was the problem, instead pointing misleadingly to Windows RPC service, which WAS running.
It seems to be a deficiency (to say the least), if the client needs a service, that it doesn't even start up the service!
