TI 2013 - Attempting to edit backup settings causes hang

Thread needs solution

Everytime I attempt to edit any of the settings of any of my backup jobs, Acronis True Image 2013 hangs and the edited settings are not saved. However, all of my scheduled backups seem to complete with no issue. The title bar of the Windows says Not Responding and my only option at that point is to force the app to close via the 'X' icon in upper right of title bar or via Task Manager.

I am running TI 2013 build 6514 on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit machine.

One cause of a delay would be if the target disk which stores the backup is not attached.

Editing a backup task is a waste of time.  The changes rarely ever work as intended.

You would be better served if when a change is needed, that you stop using that task and create a new task with the desired changes.

This procedure would apply to 2013 and all newer versions.  Makiing changes to a task is not recommended

If your problem continues, you might want to run the TI Cleanup utility and re-install the software.

Your comments about "editing a backup task is a waste of time" indicate to me that True Image is a SEVERELY flawed product and that since this problem has existed for quite some time (years), Acronis has no interest in fixing the problem. Creating a new task everytime I want to change a backup task setting is absurd! You end up with a bunch of no-longer-used backup tasks in the list of tasks that you cannot delete.

I ended up resolving the issue (for now) by uninstalling TI 2013 via the cleanup utility, did my own file/folder and registry cleanup and the completely re-installing the flawed product. I then re-created each of my backup tasks. Scheduled backups seem to working, but I think I am going to look for an alternative to True Image. Shame on you Acronis for not fixing a product flaw that has plagued True Image for at least 3 years now!

P.S.: Thanks, GroverH, for taking the time to respond to my question. My rants against Acronis are obviously NOT directed at you!
