TI 2013 missing driver (hardware change)

Thread solved

Hi all,

I'm trying to restore an image taken from my old Dell PC to a newer HP using Acronis TI 2013. I am using universal restore, and supplied drivers taken from the driver disk that came with the new machine. However, I get the following error:

Device driver 'PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A2AF&SUBSYS_82B4103C&REV_00' for 'Windows 7' cannot be found.

If I skip it, the image will boot up to my log in screen, but my mouse and keyboard do not work. I've tried changing USB ports and starting in Safe Mode, but they remain unresponsive.

Based on some Googling, the error seems to refer to the Intel usbxhci.inf driver. However, I've not been able to find that particular driver with that file name for my new system. Intel and HP sites provide an iusb3xhc.inf file instead. Unfortunately, providing that driver does not clear the error when restoring. Any suggestions?

Hi Ekaterina,

I read through that thread, but it seems like the OP there had a slightly different issue. I am able to get the "restored" system to boot without any errors - it just seems that no USB ports at all function, and so I am unable to get past the log in screen. I'm also trying to use Acronis 2013, while he was using 2016.

The OS on the system I want to restore is Windows 7, and the new box used to have Windows 10 on it - so all the drivers included on the driver disk are for Win10. I've tried extracting them and using them anyway, and also tried just skipping the error as mentioned in that thread, but the USB functionality still hasn't returned.

Dan, if your new box was originally supplied with Windows 10 installed, then this predates ATI 2013 by a long way and utilities like AUR provided with ATI 2013 would have no knowledge of how to handle the newer devices in that new box.

I would normally recommend downloading a 30-day trial copy of ATI 2020 and doing the restore from that application version, but one of the limitations of trial software is that AUR is not available!

See KB 2768: Trial version limitations of Acronis products

and KB 1689: Backup archive compatibility across different product versions

I would suggest that you consider upgrading to ATI 2020 and getting access to the latest version of AUR to try using with your ATI 2013 backup image and new Win 10 hardware.

Thanks Steve. I was afraid this might be the only solution. I'll mark it as the answer though I won't be able to test it out for some time. I appreciate the direction, though!
