TI 2013 w/plus pack - Restore to different system

Thread needs solution

I have a question regarding using True Image 2013 with the plus pack to install software to another computer. I have had several versions of the software and had a chance to perform this procedure in the past with an older version of the software.

I understand how to do the transfer using the drivers from the new computer. When the two computers have the same version of Windows, the drivers from the newer computer will be compatible for the hardware on the new computer, and will interface with the transferred version of Windows. However, my question is how to transfer an older version of Windows to the computer with the newer version of PC hardware, which may have drivers not supported in the older version of Windows which is being transferred.

Case in point, I have a computer which is dual boot with Windows XP and Windows 8. The present setup has two completely different versions of Windows with two completely different sets of hardware drivers, one XP and one Win 8. Since this computer is a few years old, the XP drivers work fine with the main hardware (hardware drivers for the computer itself, i.e. - graphics card, modem, etc.), and there are Windows 8 drivers for the main computer components. Some of the software and a flatbed Hewlett-Packard scanner and webcam aren’t supported in the newer version of Windows, hence they work on the XP side but not the Win 8 side. Originally, when the computer only had Windows XP installed, I used an older version of TI to move the programs, etc. to that computer and it worked fine. After the transfer everything worked as it did on the old computer.

There are issues with installing an operating system with hardware, particularly if a hardware manufacturer has an older hardware component which, for instance, had drivers for Windows XP but the manufacturer doesn’t have updated drivers to support Windows 8. In the case of the older computer I have now, I did the transfer using the plus pack, and later I installed Windows 8 on the computer, as a dual boot system, because there are drivers for the main computer components on each operating system and when installing manually, the newer version of Windows had drivers to support the majority of the hardware. Of course, the scanner, and a web cam don’t work with the Windows 8 side.

Now, the real question I have is, if I wanted to transfer the present setup to a newer computer, could I transfer both of the dual boot operating systems to the new computer using TI? If there are any major hardware changes, for instance the processor, which the Windows XP side doesn’t have drivers for, does that mean the transfer won’t work on the Windows XP side?

Also, in the present system, drive C is the XP side and drive D is the Windows side. Even if I attempted to transfer the whole system to another computer, which has XP drivers for that computer, would the transfer, using TI, work on both of the dual boot sides? In other words, would the transfer take care of copying the system drivers, and the roadmapping to those drivers be the same? Right now, Windows XP looks at drive C for drivers and Win 8 looks to drive D for its’ drivers.

I understand this isn’t your everyday type of question, and I know that if I do a restore to this present computer it works fine. I’m just concerned about if I could transfer both operating systems to a different computer since its’ hardware would be different from the present system.
