TI 2015 - backup error "unable to read drive 2"

The last three times I tried to backup my primary SSD hard drive I've been "getting unable to read drive 2" error. TI waits for a response, times out and then retries the entire backup.

Not sure how TI names drive numbers, in Disk Management the drive I'm trying to backup is the second one but is labeled Disk 1. It has two partitions, System REserved R: 350MB and Primary C: 223GB.

I have run both the short (scandisk) and full (command prompt chkdsk c: /r") on both drives, no errors are reported.

If the drive is failing in a way only TI can detect I would like to replace the drive. I have to go back in time to a previous backup. I've never been able to use TI clone tool because I'm always going to a bigger drive and I couldn't figure out how to get TI to expand a partition while cloning.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
