TI Home 2010 - Do I have to install it?

Thread needs solution

This may seem like an absurd question, but I really don't need all the fancy features that come with TIH2010. I don't need the hidden partition and changes to my boot sector, continuous backups, incremental backups etc.

I want to boot from the program CD, create disk images of my 2 internal drives on to a networked NAS (ReadyNAS Duo). I plan to do that every once in a while.

In the event of a disaster, I want to restore the image thus created.

Do I even have to load the software on to my XP Pro PC?

How do I ensure that I keep up with any updates to the software and create a functional boot disk like the original program disc without installing the software?

Thanks
Aloke Prasad
PS: I am used to the old Ghost versions before it became bloatware. I bought TIH2010 to be able to use my NAS as a image backup destination. I don't want much else.

Hello Aloke,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

If you don’t want to install the software in order to create rescue media I may recommend you download ISO image of Acronis bootable disc from your account and use any third-party software to create bootable disc.

You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD at:

http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm

http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm

You will be able to download ISO image from My Account - > Registered Products after you register the serial number. In order to receive free minor updates and technical support, please do the following to register your product:

1. Choose "Product registration" at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/products/registration/

2. Enter your serial number for your Acronis product in the corresponding field.

3. Your product will become registered and you will get an access to the latest build at "Product updates" (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/updates/).

Please disable any download managers, internet download/connection boosters, etc. before the download.

You can check for updates using this link http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/updates/ and as soon as a new build is released you will be able to download updated ISO image and recreate Acronis bootable disc.
