TI Home2011 - I want to clone two SATA-HDDs
I need to clone a SATA-disc. PC is one old HP Pavillon k811.de with XP installed. A 160GB SATA disc is installed. New hdd will be bigger. I will buy TI Home 2011 for this purpose, as it is for my customer.
I know that SATA-hdds have no master/slave jumpers, so my question is:
I am afraid to make a mistake when booting from the CD. How can I be sure TI knows what hdd to start from?
I mean, when there are no jumpers, could it happen that TI would try to clone the new hdd and erasing the old one?
Sorry, I am a bit confused at the moment about this subject. It must not happen that the working xp installation gets damaged. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pat,
thank you for your reply. I will do the cloning from CD as suggested.
My customer wants the old disk to stay in place and the new one added internally, he wants no external disk.
I have again thought about it and came to the conclusion that, since the new hdd is bigger, I just have to carefully look at the size shown at the cloning window to make sure the smaller disk will be the source. This should be a sure thing - is that correct?

OK. Put the new on at the spot/connection where the old is.
Remember to disconnect the old disk before rebooting on the new clone.
yes, double check disk volumes and labels when choosing your source and destination.
Choose the manual cloning method so that you can see how ATI will scale the partition(s). Do not change the size of any reserved, OEM, diag, recovery or other hidden partition.

I´ll do it this way, sounds good to me.
Thank you so much, Pat. Have a nice day!
