TI Personal 2010

Thread needs solution

In the UK at present, readers of PC Pro magazine (and maybe others) get a free copy of TI Personal 2010 which from its specification is a 2010 which has the incremental and differential backup options switched off. (There may of course be other snags which only surface when the product is in use).

Since 2010:

a. generally works (unlike 2012)
b. has a sensible interface (unlike 2011 and 2012)

it might be a fine solution for most users – as long as the offer to upgrade to 2012 is not taken seriously.

It would be interesting to find out how many users who find they need an additional licence would buy a ‘full’ TI 2010 if they could and if it were supported. I would. It would appear at first glance that the version Acronis now give away is better for many users than the one they sell!

I believe ati2010 had some alignment issues on some machines. If it works for your set up, its a commendable choice for the reasons you mentioned if you don't want the extra features of a full version and don't want the online active activation that the newest version uses. ati2009 might be an even better choice -- and ATI10 (as opposed to ati2010) is the best of all of them, imo, provided your hardware is old enough that that old version can handle your hardware.

hardware and alighments issues notwithstanding

Best XP version ATI10 (as opposed to ati2010)
Best Vista versions ATI11 (as opposed to ati2011) (ATI11 had more serious bugs than ati10 but ati10 didn't support Vista)
Best w7 version ATI2010

You can't get support for obsolete versions; then again, with the current version you only get support for 30 days and after that you pay additional for each incident. So, cum se cum sa ;)
