TI2010 Says FULL Backup Archive is not last file in archive...won't mount.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I made a FULL backup archive of one of my machines. I then saved the archive file to a networked WD-MyBookWorld drive. I now want to mount that archive to retrieve some data. TI2010 reports this file is not the last file in the archive, yet it's definitely the ONLY archive in that series using that file name I made. It was for a specific purpose and I even labeled it FULL. Furthermore, I've mounted this archive file since it was created with no problems...until now.

How can I mount this file with TI2010?

Accomplish the file transfer task using the Explore function.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the appropriate .tib file.
Right click and choose the Explore option from the right click menu.
This will open the backup file and you can browse to the proper folder.
Right click on the specific file(s) and either drag/drop or copy/paste the files from the backup file onto your Windows folder.

Thanks for the help Grover, but Windows 7 says the archive is now corrupted or in use by another process or already mounted. The drive isn't currently mounted (that I can see) and I don't know what other process might be using the file, as it's on a remote storage drive. I guess this is a lost cause now or is there a way to rescue files from a corrupt archive file? This archive was working fine a week ago. I used it to restore my wife's laptop...grrrrrr....

So, is there any way to retrieve data from a supposedly corrupt .tib archive file? Neither Acronis TI2010 nor Windows 7 will mount or browse this file which was perfectly fine a week ago. Any solution or a lost cause?

Hello,

GroverH, thanks for your help.

Mr Pisky, let me assist you.

To make sure that your archive is not corrupted, I may recommend you to validate it:

  1. To validate an archive, click Recovery on the sidebar.
  2. Select the archive to validate and click Validate on the toolbar. If the selected archive is password-protected, Acronis True Image Home will ask for the password in a dialog box.
  3. After entering the correct password you will be taken to the Scheduling step, where you can schedule validation of the backup or leave the default setting Do not schedule.
  4. Clicking Proceed will start the validation procedure.

If the validation fails, please try to run it using a bootable CD and copy the archive to the internal drive.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.

Amazing... I put this problem off to the side due to other issues more pressing. I've now returned to try to repair/recover this archive and lo and behold... I can now browse the file as if nothing ever was wrong.

The only possible thing that may have happened on my end from my the time of my last post is a possible update from build 6053 to 7046...can't recall if I updated before or after my initial post... How could I check to be sure of the update date and time?
