.tib file hide and seek

ACRONIS TIH 11 build 8022. I am trying to consolidate a bunch of various BU's scattered across various HDDs. Sometimes when i mount a drive and try to browse to the folder where the BU is located Windows Explorer will not display the .tib files. It also will not recognize that the file takes any space in the folder (Folder Properties - 0 bytes) but the file is clearly taking up space because a drive properties reveals much more disk space used. If I run ATIH and try to see the files by starting the restore process they are visible. Any idea what is going on?
I have a similar problem whether trying to see the .tib files in Win XP or Win 7.
