TIH 2011 #5105 Convert Acronis Secure Zone to NTFS gets stuck and leaves inconsistent state

Thread needs solution

Hi

when converting the existing SZ to an NTFS the progress is stuck at 3% and even 10 minutes later you see the convert.exe job stuck with 0% CPU and no file i/o (validated in Win7 resource monitor).

So I terminated this conversion within Acronis, right mouse click to the acronis job icon in the windows task bar.

Afterwards I tried to restart the job but with no further success.

I don't remember anymore the details, but it seemed to me the SZ became inconsistend at the end.

Issues:
1) I am missing a warning that this job shall not be canceled; if this shall be required from Acronis side ....
2) I am missing more detailed messages about whats going on ...
3) it should work and not get stuck ;)
4) even it it gets canceled, it should be restartable ...

The secure zone as a 100GB NTFS filesystem inside of an extended partition.
The whole disk was 250 GB.

Hi, I'm having a similar issue with True Image Home 2011 on Windows 7 64.

I have upgraded to 2011 from 2010 today, and decided I'd clear out my old backups and use the non-stop backup feature. However, I couldn't set the procedure up to make non-stop backups to the secure zone I'd created previously with TI 2010 as it was in the FAT32 format. Whenever I try to use the TI 2011 convert secure zone to NTFS feature, it gets to 33% complete and then goes no further. As Andy above experienced, when I check in task manager, I see the convert.exe process using 0% CPU resources.

Furthermore, when I right click on the process icon in the taskbar and select status to check on the status of the task, I get asked to give UAC permission for the program to make changes to my computer. That is the case regardless of whether I have TI 2011 open in another window or not. After I click yes, nothing happens in terms of providing a status window. If TI 2011 isn't open at the time, it starts up, but just goes to the home screen. I'm not sure why the conversion is getting stuck, nor why I cannot access the task's status, but given that just trying to check on the status of the task when TI 2011 is already open and has been given administrator running permission (which I have to do each time I start it up) I get asked to give permission it should already have, maybe the conversion task fails because Acronis isn't getting permission properly whatever I do. Or maybe it's something completely different, but the end result is I cannot complete the conversion process so cannot use TI 2011's non-stop backup feature.

These problems are occuring with the latest TI 2011 build 5519.

Please advise, I'm without backup peace of mind at the moment.

Kind Regards,
Steve

Yeah I'll add to the problem by adding that half the troubles I'm having are because TI 2011 doesn't seem to have permissions to do anything with secure zones created by previous versions of TI.

I tried to resolve the above problem by removing the secure zone so I could create a new one in NTFS. But, TI 2011 doesn't let me remove the old secure zone, and clicking on Acronis Secure Zone in tools doesn't lead to an option to remove or adjust the old secure zone, it just assumes I'm creating a new one (it 'sees' a partition called Secure Zone, but it *doesn't* consider it a secure zone, it doesn't have the blue icon for a secure zone, presumably cos 2011 deals in NTFS secure zones not the FAT32 ones from 2010 (but the devs knew people would be upgrading from one to the other right?).

So the only way I could find to remove the old secure zone was to empty it and then using windows 7 disk manager remove the partition... which it sort of has, but not entirely, as I now have, in My Computer, a 0 byte secure zone that I can't seem to remove from the list or do anything with. Sigh. Furthermore, in the process of removing that partition the only way disk manager would let me do it was to reassign that partition and all other partitions on that drive as a dynamic disk. Which I didn't want to do but had to. Sigh. So now I'm having to copy everything from that drive onto an external so I can reformat it and set it back to being a basic disk (cos otherwise.... I can't make a new secure zone on it). Crikey. Wishing I'd stuck with TI 2010 given the amount of hassle 2011 has generated for me so far. :(

I'm using TI Home 2012 Build 7119 and have the same problems like described above. While converting to NTFS it shows me a progress of 330% and stucks.
