TIH 2011 - Error Occurred while creating the file

Thread needs solution

Hi Everyone,

I have True Image Home 2011 running on a Win 7 laptop. I just tried to create a new back up for my C:\ partition and get the following error when it gets approx. 75% through the image:

"Error Occurred while creating the file. Click Browse to specify another location, Retry to try again, click cancel."

I've checked that I can create files in the folder that Acronis is trying to save the TIB file into (I created a new text file in the backup folder). And I have enough space. The C drive is 53.8GB and I have 139GB of free space on the external drive that I am backing up to.

I've tried restarting the computer as well.

I also have backups for two other partitions as well. These are both giving me the following error:
"Error occurred while opening the file. Please insert the last media of the archive and click Retry to continue. Otherwise click cancel to stop the operation."

Can someone please suggest what I could do?

As background. The old C: image had corrupted itself and I've had continual problems with that backup. So I decided to start again. I tried deleting it through Acronis, but it couldn't remove them. So I manually deleted all the files from the external HDD. Next, I removed the backup from the list. Then I created a new backup.

Is TIH 2011 a bad version? I have had continual troubles with TIH 2011 from day 1. I had TIH 2009 on an XP machine and it worked like a dream. TIH 2011 has been a real disappointment. It throws up errors each time I try to use it.

Thanks for the help
Andrew

Run chkdsk /r on each partition of the internal drive, and on the external HD. If there are hidden partitions, assign letters to them so you can chkdsk.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case.
