TIH 2012 and 2013 Both Hang During Backup

Thread needs solution

Well... I've been an acronis customer since 2009 but I'm losing confidence in this product. Starting with TIH 2012 my machine (win7 pro, x64) will randomly have the acronis backup tasks stall and not progress beyond 0%. If I try to start the acronis console or try to access any files via windows explorer my machine ultimately locks up.

More Information
* Same symptoms with TIH 2012 as with TIH 2013, running latest versions
* Attempted uninstall and reinstall several times using instructions from acronis to remove all traces of previous installation
* removed symantec and installed windows defender
* removed windows defender and ran system with no protection
* system is completely patched with windows updates
* plenty of free hard drive space
* hardware raid 1 configuration (2 X 1 TB)
* backup to external 2TB disk in an enclosure (esata)
* never any problems running TIH 2009
* machine runs perfectly once TIH is removed

Please help as I am about to request a refund. I purchased TIH 2013 with the hopes of it working as TIH 2009 did. I purchased the product on 7/18/2013.

How is the external drive connected to your PC? Is it via eSATA port and eSATA cable to the enclosure?

Yes, I have a separate controller card with an external esata connector. Esata cable from external connector to drive enclosure.

I ran TIH 2011 on this system for over a year with no issues and have been running TIH 2011 on my wife's PC for almost 3 years with a similar setup.

Any suggestion? I tried the following again (twice- once on my own and once following tech support suggestions) and the issue still exists. I'm about to uninstall, get a refund and call it a day..

Run chkdsk /r on the internal drive and the external drive.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

FYI: two users in other threads reported failures backing up to eSATA drive, and they later discovered that the eSATA controller/interface or enclosure was failing. When they tried the same backup via USB, it worked fine.
