TIH2009 backup archive select failure

I have several TIH licences, and it happens I am running TIH2009 on a 2year old HP notebook.

I backed up a tools folder on the original machine, using TIH2009, and now need to use some of the contents of it. The tools folder backup archive was retrieved from the network store (copied from there to a local machine working space), TIH2009 opened and set to restore, and the tools archive selected. I immediately got an error message I had not seen before, a screenshot of which is attached.

There's not much point in attempting to restore from a corrupted archive, so I aborted at this stage. Several later attempts ended in the same message.

Please advise what the message actually means.
