ti_managers_proxy.dll fails to register!

Thread needs solution

Hello!

Well, here I am trying to install Acronis True Image Home 2011 (ATIH2011_6868_en-US.exe) on a freshly installed Windows Vista. I just keep getting the same error over and over again. The installer fails to register a DLL file called ti_managers_proxy.dll. It appears like 95% into the installation.

Module C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\x64\ti_managers_proxy_stub.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895. Contact your support personnel.

What gives???

I have had this version installed once, although the last version I had installed was a newer build. However, I have done a clean install of Windows Vista since that. So now I'm trying to install this 6868 build because that's the one I had downloaded. Regardless, this should not happen.

I found this forum thread: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/26234

In that thread, Scott Heiber suggests running the installation file as administrator. Well, guess what? I have tried this, and it didn't work. So... what's going on here? Why will it not register? Or what am I supposed to do to register this file manually to just get over with it?...

Thanks in advance!

Is there really no one who can help me with this one?...

So far I have tried installing the previous build, the one that came before 6868, that is build 6857 (ATIH2011_6857_en-US.exe). I got the same results! Warning message (exclamation mark) shows up, and after aborting the installation (on my command) the actual error message shows up. (You can see both messages in the attached PNG images.)

Also! I have tried installing the most up to date build as well, and that is the build 6942 (ATIH2011_6942_en-US.exe) and I got the same results with this one. What the hell is going on? Is there ANY version of Acronis True Image Home 2011 that WILL install on my computer? There is at least no build more recent than 6942.

What I will do now is to try installing a few hundreds of updates from Windows Update, and maybe a Service Pack or two, and perhaps the NET Framework. But the way I figure, it should be clearly stated if Acronis True Image Home 2011 requires all these components, like Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista, in order to operate normally. Last time I checked it only said that it requires Windows Vista or greater, there was no mention of SP2 or any Microsoft software component. But I will do it anyway and try installing all these things first, before attempting to install True Image Home 2011 again.

Please advise!

Hello Sameer,

Thank you for opening the thread regarding this issue, and for the details provided.

This is actually an abnormal behavior, the product should get installed without these issues. We've received a report about such issue a while ago, our testers team is working on reproducing the issue in order to find its cause. Meanwhile as a workaround we suggest to register the dll manually with the help of regsvr32 (regsvr32 path & filename of the dll).

Please let me know if the issue remains even after the dll is registered (and send an Acronis Info from the problem machine).

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll help you.

Thank you.

Hi again!

Well, according to the KB article 13645 at http://kb.acronis.com/content/13645 the True Image Home 2011 requires Windows Vista with Service Pack 2. I did not have any Service Pack installed at the time I tried installing this software, because like I said, I had just made a clean install of Windows Vista and I have one of the first releases of Windows Vista, one that does not come with any Service Pack pre-installed. So this could be the reason behind this failure to register the DLL file in question.

However, after installing about 100 updates for Vista from Windows Update, I made a new attempt to install True Image Home 2011 build 6942 and it worked. I was able to install it, even though I had not installed neither Service Pack 1 nor Service Pack 2 for Vista at the time. So it obviously works even without any Service Pack. So I am puzzled about this whole thing... but I am quite sure that it was some of the Windows updates I installed that allowed me to install this software successfully.

Hi Sameer,

Thank you for the update!

The product should actually work with all Vista editions. We've tested in on SP2, and can guarantee its stability, that's why it's mentioned in the official KB article. I'm really glad to know that the product got installed successfully. Thanks for keeping me posted. I'll send a request to the Development team to provide us with the information on what updates are essential for product installation just for future reference.

Thank you for cooperation!

Did anyone find a solution to this problem
Installation has failed. fatal errorduring installation Module C:\program Files (x86)\Acronis\trueimagehome\x64\ti_managers_proxy_stub.dll failed to register Hresult -2147010895. Im using win7 64 bit tried to upgrade Trueimage 2012. Got this error and now Im not even able to reinstall the original 2012.... What gives??

I am using WinXp 32b. I am up to date on everything including .net4. I will not ever "upgrade" to a newer Microsoft product.

I am wireless to my ISP modem.
I am installing the 30 day trial to see if I like it.
I get "ti_managers_proxy.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770."

I have had and used Acronis TI 2014 (it was installed on my previous PC when I bought it used) with no problem. Acronis 2015 should work on WinXP as well. WinXP isn't going away anytime soon, since Microsoft made sure that there are a billion PCs out there with it.

If I can't get this installed, I will use a competitor's product.
Please provide help?
